3 months...what?!

>> Saturday, September 17, 2011

3 months, wow. I can't believe my baby is getting so big and strong. I think she's around 12 pounds and I can sure feel it! She holds her head up really good and half the time refuses to put it down when I lay her on her back!! Her hair is still dark, getting long and not showing any curl yet...and the saddest news of all...she's starting to get a bald spot in the very back:( Her eyes are a very dark blue and she is super, super ticklish!!!! I would say mostly under her chin, but really it's just about everywhere!

Annie loves to watch what's going on and gets really excited when anyone talks to her. She loves her play mat and bouncer and will talk and kick like crazy to the animals hanging down! My most favorite thing is when it's just her and I laying in bed and she starts talking to me...and smiling..and then talking more and then smiling like she just said something really hilarious. And then, wait for it...she grins so big that I can see her gums!!!!!!!

Annie rarely cries unless she is really, really tired or hungry and those times are entirely my fault (and very, very short lived)! She still refuses to sleep when we are out and about. She likes to be walked and rocked to sleep or put in her swing. Sometimes she talks or as I like to think of it 'sings' herself to sleep, it's so cute! The past week she has been sleeping 12 hours at night, usually getting up twice. It's pretty much AWESOME!!!!! I was putting her down later but she kept waking up at 6:30 am every, single day. So I tried putting her down earlier just to see what would happen, and she slept all night! She takes about 3 naps a day and is a happy camper when she wakes up!

She LOVES her brother and sister! She smiles and gets so excited when they come around. I have let them come around her more too because they are a bit more careful now. And she's getting bigger now too. She likes to watch everything they do! She loves to cuddle and coo with Daddy too.

Here are some pictures of her showing off how strong she is and how much she loves her siblings!
She's checking out Elizabeth:
Then Mark:
And then Mommy:
Mark loves to cuddle up to her, look at these two:
Ooops!!!!! I thought he got over the whole must touch every thing on her face thing...sorry Annie!
Look at how far off the ground she's getting, I can't believe it! Happy 3 month birthday Annie!! We love you so, so, so much!!!!

18 months...or so.

I'm a little late, ok a lot late at posting about our twins at 18 months...and it's all MARK'S fault!!! Just for the record. He decided that he wanted to take their pictures instead of hiring a photographer, which I would've been ok with except that I knew we wouldn't have/make the time to do it, and I was right. But, it's ok. I am glad we didn't pay money for a photographer because these two were IMPOSSIBLE in front of the camera! We didn't get a single shot of Mark looking at the camera, they were both way too busy to stop and look. So without further adeu here is what is going on with these two crazies!

Mark
21 lbs. 10 oz
33 in.

Little Mark has become quite the talker! He says new words every day and will often walk around talking and talking and we always pretend that we know exactly what he's saying! It's really cute. He can say (or sign) at least 50 words or more. He still LOVES books! He spends a lot of the day looking at them, pointing at them, asking what things are, repeating what we say or sounds he hears. Lately he has discovered that things exist in his world and in the books! It's so exciting for us to see them learning. It's one of my favorite things as a parent.

He sleeps about 10-11 hours a night and takes one 2-3 hour afternoon nap. He usually tucks his favorite blanket under his stomach or legs and falls asleep on his stomach or side. He still eats like a little man. His portions are huge and he fits so much in his mouth that it still makes me nervous! He loves anything tomato based, the other night I made pizza muffins to dip in pizza sauce and he DUNKED them in the sauce! He doesn't care too much for milk (never really has loved it) and I think it will be quite easy for him to give up that last bedtime bottle (us parents just need to get around to doing it).

Mark loves his sisters and is very, very sweet with Annie. He always wants to lay down beside her and gives kisses all the time. She of course smiles at him and that makes him so happy. I'm not sure if he's confused about his identity, if he thinks that he and Elizabeth are the same person or what but every time we say where's MarkMark he points to her and says his name. Or the other day Elizabeth and I went in to get him from his nap and he pointed to her and said MarkMark (it was really sweet to see how excited they were to see each other:). He and Elizabeth fight over toys but he NEVER hits her. He will either run away screaming or sometimes he'll try to use his head to push her out of the way (a very smart thing since she can't bite or pinch his skull!). They will also chase each other and play peek a boo together. That is one of my most favorite things in the world to watch!

Mark has many different smiles that mean many different things. Just to name a few...his proud smile, his I'm getting into something I shouldn't smile, his shy I think you're pretty smile (he may be a bit of a ladies man), his fake smile/laugh (this one is hilarious!), and of course his laugh out loud smile. We love them all, even the mischievous ones! He loves rocks, dirt, sand, anything to do with outside and running. He is not shy with others and besides books he loves to play with blocks and he loves to sort, stack and move things from one location or bin/shelve to another.

We love our little MarkMark so much!!!!
Here are some of the lovely pictures we attempted:
Mark 'smelling' the flowers (or wowers as he calls them)
Mark pointing to more wowers:
Oh those eyes melt me....
Most handsome boy ever!
Elizabeth:
21 lbs 1 oz
32 in.

Our smiley, smiley girl!!!! Unless she is meeting you for the 1st time or is in any way unfamiliar or scared of you...then she is nothing but serious. But to us she is smiley and happy! A little beasty with her brother lately though. She went from biting, to pinching but is now mostly back to just biting her own fingers when she gets mad. Poor, frustrated toddler and poor brother for always being there, the joys of being a twin.

Elizabeth loves to be the helper. She is very, very thoughtful. The other day I wanted Mark to come and give me a kiss and he wouldn't. So a minute later she comes running over to me and gives me a hug along with everyone else in the room (Daddy, Mark and Annie)!! She likes to be the first one in the bathroom at night so that she can be the one to hand out everyone's toothbrushes and she likes to make sure that Mark always has his blankets and milk. She's just so sweet!!

She is still a picky eater and loves her fruit and cheese (any dairy product actually). She still eats super, super slow but whatever keeps her happy! She loves to color, read, and drag things around everywhere. She gets so mad when something doesn't fit! She was trying to fit 2 laundry baskets through her door and even when I showed her she still tried over and over again! Both twins love to sort things into all kinds of different compartments, bowls, cups or buckets. Her speech has just started to blossom and it's so cute to hear her! The other day she was pointing to something in the book and saying something. I looked and she was saying bird! She tries to say almost everything we ask her to, we love it!!

Elizabeth is really great with Annie. She says hi to her every time she sees her and loves to hand me her diapers and sit and talk with her. She will pat her stomach and say soft, soft! Elizabeth is still the climber of the family! She will be the first to try and climb anything. She sleeps 10-11 hours at night and 1 2-3 hour nap during the afternoon. She loves her blanket and at night she still loves to cuddle up with her bottle (wish me luck when we try to break that one!). She loves the silky part of her blanket, she will drink her milk and rub her blanket between her fingers. At night she'll throw the blanket over her back and tuck it under her arms, it's so cute!!

We love our Elizabeth so much!!!!!

Here are some pictures from our 'photoshoot':

And one little sweet picture of the two of them holding hands:

Yes they do!

Sprinkler fun

>> Tuesday, September 13, 2011

Since summer finally came to our house (going on 2 weeks now, I think we may have even reached 90??) we got the sprinkler going and the twins were having a blast! Here are some funny pictures of how our kids play:
This is a picture of what you would think is Mark dancing but it's really him mid temper tantrum...he's becoming an expert on how to do a temper tantrum!
Mark and Mark:
Annie and her favorite person in the world, at least until she can run around with Mark and Elizabeth!
We live in between 2 small airports and in the summer there are lots of airplanes going by and the kids love it! This is them doing the sign (and they make a whoosh sound) for an airplane, they do it all day long.
This picture is SO Mark! Running, check. Rock in hand, check. Screaming something inaudible, check.
I had to do a series of photos with Elizabeth's faces! She loves the water and was standing and playing for such a long time, Mark got some pretty funny pictures of her! Here she is doing a fish face:
And yelling something....
And smiling....
And her water soaked, focused, BEAUTIFUL face:

Cool kids

Someone wants to be cool like Dad:
Success!!!

Book worms

Mark and Elizabeth have always loved books but it seems that recently they are reading them even more than they used to. What is really exciting is that they are starting to connect what they read and see in the books to the world around them. For example, the other day Elizabeth was showing me the Wheels on the Bus book and pointing to the mommy and baby. I told her what they were and then she pointed to Annie's bouncer and said baby! Then she looked down at the book again and then pointed to me and said mama! They will point out a book shelve in their bunny book and then point to the one in their room, or see a moon and point outside (I will be posting about their new obsession with the moon later!). They are starting to say new words everyday, I can hardly keep up! Now I know what people mean when they say kids are like sponges..these two are soaking up everything and I just hope we are challenging them enough!
Here are the two book worms, reading and rocking in the chair:
As I was feeding Annie I looked over to see that Elizabeth had climbed into the bookshelf!
And you know when one does it the other must try too!
Ta da!!!
I love that they love to read. I was a MAJOR book worm as a kid and still am! I think we may just put books on their Christmas list and call it a day!

This 12 weeker...

Can hold her head up so good we decided to try her out in the Bumbo for a few minutes...and look at her go!
It really made her day when big brother came over to check out her new seat:
She thinks he's hilarious!
Um where are you going Mark, Annie's not done talking to you!
She loves to talk! She will tell you really long stories, smile in between, and then keep talking...it's just about the cutest thing I've ever seen!
