A Real Summer Day!

>> Saturday, June 4, 2011

We finally had a real hot summer day around here! I was pretty excited to put the kids in shorts and sandals for the first time this year. With so much to choose from to go and do we decided to head to some water, Lake Washington water! It was busy, but anywhere we went would've been busy today because it reached a good 80 degrees here!! We were blinded plenty of times by white winter skin in bikinis and shorts and my freckles even came out to party (along with more swelling, yes that's possible, I am 39 weeks pregnant people!). Here is some pics of our afternoon in the sun!
There were tons of boats, people, dogs and kids. The twins were so happy and everywhere we went people stared and talked to us, people are so much friendlier when you have little kids!
Little Mark wasn't too afraid to get close to the water:
But once it hit his feet he wasn't so sure about it, it was COLD! (Please note that Elizabeth is still keeping her distance in the background!):
So he went back to playing/eating rocks and sand (he was sucking on a rock in this pic):
Elizabeth made her way closer to the water:
But once I put her feet in she wanted nothing to do with it!!
So we walked around and found some puddles to stomp in:
Then Elizabeth spotted some ducks coming our way and got pretty excited:
And they came really close, we had to hold them back from chasing after them!
We finally ended our afternoon since my preggo body couldn't take another minute in the heat. We got a small sno cone and let the kids try it out and cool down in the shade. Big surprise, Mark went for a big bite:
While Elizabeth needed persuading to take a tiny one!
She did well at keeping her hat on too, only it had to be to the side for some reason! Now I'm going to go put my swollen feet up and relax! The kids crashed so hard at bedtime, yay for sunshine!!

New Park + Sandbox!!

>> Friday, June 3, 2011

We tried out another new toddler park last weekend and we LOVED IT!!!! Thank you Michelle for letting us know about this gem in your area! It is fenced, has picnic tables and great toys...the very best part of all though is the SANDBOX!!!!! For some reason this was our 1st visit to a sandbox, how sad. I bought sand a while ago from Home Depot thinking we would make our own little one at home but then got too pregnant to sit, stand and run after the kids outside!

Anyways, here are a ton of pictures from our day at the park. Afterwards we went to Romios (kids ate free on Mondays!) and they loved the Italian food, Little Mark and Daddy are both lovers of anything tomato, Elizabeth was introduced to garlic bread and loved it and I had the best Chicken Parmesan sandwich. We love going here because it reminds us of our long stay at the hospital. We shared countless Chicken Parmesan sandwiches during that time!

I knew that once the kids, especially Mark,
saw the sandbox that they would fall in love so I tried to distract them with a few other things before hand, like these things:
But they soon found the sandbox and here is how Elizabeth's 1st experience went:
Typical Elizabeth, she must stand and observe for a while and then she decided to slowly make her way:
She liked the view from up here a lot:
Because when she got down in the sand and tripped this tragedy happened:
Yup, sand on her hands, noooo!! She actually doesn't freak out, she just walks over or waits until one of us comes to her to wipe it off!
She eventually made her way into sitting in the sand, she never let go of the shovel and had a lot of fun carrying around the bucket!
Mark on the other hand......
Couldn't keep his hands off the stuff!!! He went at it with 2 shovels:
Loaded up a dump truck:
It was some really intense play time, can you tell he was into it?!
He even broke the handle off of one of the shovels! Hard core.
But then he eventually started eating it by the handfuls. To his credit it was dinner time and he was starving...but ew, gross. In our attempts to soothe his crying by being removed from the precious sandbox we tried swings, but they didn't cut it. I think we'll be hitting this park up again this weekend!!
